Get Where God Is
Where
is God? He is omnipresent. A Christian parent told his fearful children when
closing their door after tucking them into bed, “God will be with you.” Years
later, when they were teens, he asked if they wanted to go to store with him
and they replied, "No, but God will be with you." Although God is
everywhere, He is more present in some places than others - He said so. Notice
where God says He is:
In Church. Matthew 18:20 says
“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the
midst of them.” Revelation 1:13 and 20 say “And in the midst of the seven
candlesticks one like unto the Son of man; the seven candlesticks which thou
sawest are the seven churches.” He walks
in midst of His churches! Revelation 2:1 – “Unto the angel of the church of
Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right
hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;”
In Giving. As Jesus walked into
Temple next to the treasury, He noticed the woman giving her all two mites. She
could just as well have handed it to Jesus since she was giving it to Him
anyway. Giving to God puts you where
Jesus is. John 3:16 says that God is deeply involved in giving - “For God so
loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Note I Corinthians 16:1-2
as it teaches about giving and where to do it - “Now concerning the collection
for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do
ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as
God hath prospered him...” Christians are in church on the first day of the
week!
In Tears - Tears move
God. In
II Kings 20, King Hezekiah was sick
unto death. He lift up his voice, wept and asked God to spare his life. God
added 15 more years. Also, Hagar wept and begged God to spare her son and He
did. Tears get the attention of the Almighty. Tears are a language God
understands. God is near to the broken and contrite heart. Isaiah 57:15 -
"For thus saith the high & lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose
name is Holy; I dwell in the high & holy place, with him also that is of a
contrite & humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, & to
revive the heart of the contrite ones." Psalm 56:8 – “Thou tellest my
wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?”
In Praise - "But thou art
holy, 0 thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel." (Ps 22:3) When you
brag on God, He seems nearer! Praise Him for what He has done in the past, for
what He is doing now, and what He has promised to do in the future. Praise Him
for His character, His name and His Word, His promises, His justice, His love,
His mercy that endures forever, for His grace that is sufficient, His
forgiveness, His love and His truth.
In Soul-Winning - "Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the
end of the world. Amen." (Matt 28:20) When you witness, He goes.
Are
you where God is?
